Yudagana  lake is located about one and a half  miles from Buttala town.it is believed that this lake was built during the reign  of Mahanaga.it is said that the raw materials for the production of the construction of the historical yudagana dagaba were  obtained from this lake.

This lake was renovated by the irrigation department in 1950-1952.The lake is  fed by a watershed area of about 1.7  square miles.It also has a  300 feet long Dam.The water capacity  cof Yudhagana lakes is about thousand acre feet.spread over and area of 150 acres.100 feet long concert i spillway Gate is built on the left Bank.This yudagana lake consist of a main Canal about a mile long and its subsidiary canals and field canals. This provides irrigation facilities for about 252  acres of paddy farming .In there was also  old road Lake with Yudagana vehera.steps have been taken to develop the the supervis supervision .the historical yudagana viharaya can also be named as a place where the"wewai ,Dagebai,ketai which was  a core symbol of buddhist culture during the previous king's time is recreated.
