Light yellow with a long beak and a yellowish golden colour extending around the head to either side of ears.

The Scientific name is (Gracula ptilogenys).


                      Srilankan mynah ,which lives mostly in the wet zone,wanders in to the dry zone only  in spring.A bird close to humans and can be easily tamed.These birds have to ability to imitate human voice .A variety of fruits as well as small nuts  are eaten.This bird species is one of the 33bird species endemic to srilanka.usually mid canopy layer is occupied by the branch layer of plants.The small pods in the plants are used to make their young.

                 Breeding season is from march to may and from August to october every year . The female bird lays two eggs at a time.It gives birth to four  cubs per year and a couple of birds care for and feed their young.
